Ending residency and moving someone from your facility is sometimes necessary and often difficult.  Learn to do it the right way.

• Use an involuntary transfer or discharge to end, and sometimes remedy, a resident’s nonpayment.

• Understand safety and health condition situations that justify an involuntary transfer or discharge.

Know the regulations to write a valid Notice of involuntary transfer or discharge and prepare for a favorable administrative hearing.
