Vaccine Mandates: Tips for Navigating Requests for Religious and Medical Accommodations

On August 26, Governor Pritzker mandated that all healthcare workers be fully vaccinated by September 5.  This has raised many questions for employers regarding what constitutes a legitimate medical and religious exemption in regards to the COVID-19 vaccine.

Objectives

  • Understand current vaccine mandate requirements under EO 2021-20
  • Understand the parameters of disability accommodation rights and responsibilities raised in connection with vaccine mandates
  • Understand the parameters of accommodation rights and responsibilities based on sincerely held religious, moral or ethical beliefs raised in connection with vaccine mandates
