Nursing Component of PDPM – How to Get it Right!

Nursing documentation plays a key role in all participating SNF’s Medicare integrity and validity. The nursing component of Medicare in a skilled nursing facility has allowed for a more holistic payment structure that allows for all aspects of patient care to be looked at equally with the patient needs at the center of the care delivery and reimbursement system. Under PDPM, the nursing aspects of Medicare reimbursement and guidelines have not changed, but it is still an area where many MDS nurses, business office staff, and administration struggle with best practice and valid documentation.
