DEMENTIA FRIENDLY AND DEMENTIA FRIENDS: HOW TO SUPPORT THE NATIONAL MOVEMENT

Dementia Friendly and Dementia Friends are both grassroots initiatives in Illinois and around the country. In this webinar you will hear how these initiatives are bringing together community members to support people who are living with dementia in their counties, townships, towns, or neighborhoods.

Currently there are 26 Dementia Friendly communities in Illinois and over 10,000 Dementia Friends. People from healthcare settings can be natural leaders for both initiatives, showing not only a benefit to the larger community but also their individual organization.

Susan Frick, of the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center, is one of the state leads in Illinois for Dementia Friendly and Dementia Friends. Along with Susan, Mary Ferguson of The Birches in Clarendon Hills, will share what is involved in creating a Dementia Friendly community and encouraging people to become a Dementia Friend.
